October on the calendar. For some it means “golden autumn”, for others it means the end of agricultural work. Fans of mobile entertainment will enjoy a whole avalanche of different themed events dedicated to Halloween this month. Nine out of ten apps have already added pumpkins and cobwebs to their interface design, dressed up characters in witches’ hats and placed candles everywhere. This is, of course, wonderful and conveys the holiday atmosphere. However, there are games that don’t need any tinsel to create horror on All Hallows’ Eve. We’ll talk about five of them today.

Music for fighting zombies

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle

What’s Halloween without slashers?? It would be ideal to include Michael Myers in the selection, but I didn’t come across any adequate games based on his series of films. But in stores there is a wonderful puzzle starring Jason Voorhees.

The essence of the game is simple and clear from its name. We have to play the role of a psychopath from Crystal Lake and slaughter crowds of stupid teenagers. Everything according to the canons of the genre. Each level has several dummies, after killing them the main goal appears. We get there and win. Sounds easier than it actually is. The gameplay feature is in the way Jason moves. He can only walk straight and will not stop until he hits an obstacle. In other words, the path to each victim must be carefully and calculated in advance, otherwise there is a chance of driving yourself into a trap. Over time, the process becomes more complicated: police appear who can kill us, fires in which we can burn, etc.n. New elements are added gradually and do not let you get bored.

In addition to the main chain of episodes, there are daily murders – especially difficult puzzles, and a deadly marathon, where the reaction is trained to the accompaniment of incendiary heavy rock.

The game is free, but there were no particularly intrusive advertising or calls for donations. Yes, Mother’s head periodically offers to spend real money on weapons, skins and other goodies, and for watching a sponsored video, she will even give advice on completing the level. However, it looks so authentic and cute that it’s not annoying at all. If that’s not enough for you, then the same developers have Slayaway Camp, everything is the same, but with a cubic design and completely paid.

Limbo

At the time of release, I didn’t get around to Limbo, which I greatly regret. Many times I promised myself that next week I would definitely play it. Meanwhile, almost seven years have passed. For those who are familiar with it, it is already clear why it is perfect for a Halloween evening. For beginners, it will be enough to look at a couple of minutes of gameplay.

Limbo is a puzzle platformer. You will https://noidverificationcasinos.co.uk/ play as a boy who went in search of his sister in Limbo. By the way, I learned this information from the description in the store, because the game itself is not very generous with explanations. No interface, captions or dialogue. The narrative is told solely through gameplay and atmosphere. The last miracle is so good. Unsettling, uncomfortable and suspenseful, it is supported by a black and gray visual style, brutal animations of the death of the main character and, of course, the soundtrack. I can’t call it musical, because often there is no music, only the sound of rain, the grinding of mechanisms and booming steps.

The game is small: you can play it enthusiastically in a couple of hours or devote several evenings to it before going to bed in pitch darkness. It will cost (besides the nightmares) 150 rubles for Android and 299 rubles for iPhone. For comparison: Steam version – 249 rubles, PS – 649, Xbox – 499. I don’t know how this happens.

Cursed Hotel: Death Sentence

In this section I try to select different games that will be interesting to different people. We have just reviewed a fun, bloody puzzle game and an atmospheric platformer filled with riddles for lovers of thoughtful, leisurely gameplay. There are two action games ahead of us. In the meantime, let’s pay attention to one of the most popular genres in the mobile environment – quests. It would be possible to take “three in a row”, but there one skin is enough to change the mood.

The main character receives a letter asking for help and arrives at a mysterious hotel. Many locations await him there, each of which is filled with mysteries. In general, the entire gameplay comes down to moving between rooms, collecting the necessary items and solving simple puzzles. Casual and relaxed, fans of such entertainment should like it. The game was included in the list due to its style; an abandoned Victorian-style hotel is a timeless horror classic. The levels are drawn beautifully and gloomily, sometimes even small jump scares slip through.

In the store the game positions itself as free. However, in reality, you can only go through the first few locations for free. The full set opens for 229 rubles. But no advertising.

Identity V

We’ve already had time to stretch our brains, let’s move on to more active entertainment. Within the framework of sitting still and poking at the phone, of course. Identity V is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival-horror game. And without abstruse rhetoric – this is Dead by Daylight for mobile phones.

The game starts unusually for multiplayer. Frankly, at launch and the first minutes of gameplay I was expecting something completely different. At first it seems like a simple casual quest. We take on the role of a detective and arrive at an abandoned old house (familiar, though?). We slowly wander around the room and perform one-click maneuvers. However, a little later it turns out that this is only a lobby, the real game is hidden a little deeper. At some point, the hero approaches a bookcase and is transported into someone’s memories, trying on, during training, first the role of the victim, and then the hunter.

Basic gameplay varies depending on the role: hunter or hunted. The first one must catch all other players and kill them. To do this, he ties them to fireworks that detonate after a certain time. The latter, using decryptors, try to open the door and escape from the location. At the same time, different survivors and maniacs have different abilities that can be improved. The similarities with DbD do not end there: QTE during repairs, the ability to block the path of a pursuer or save comrades from traps, etc.d. Something new – perhaps a mode with two hunters, this didn’t seem to exist in the older version. And, of course, the creepy but charming visual style of Coraline: button eyes and distinctive stop-motion animation.

Normally I would call this game a blatant plagiarism. However, in the context of mastering a new genre for mobile platforms, this may not be so bad. The game is free, no ads were noticed. There are, of course, many opportunities to donate, but I haven’t felt the need to do so yet.

Into the Dead 2

The second part of the popular runner has become much larger and more aggressive. It is also distinguished from its fellows by the absence of “rails”. That is, we don’t just choose which one is more expensive to run in order not to crash into an obstacle, but we fully maneuver between the walking dead. However, before there were simply endless levels, and we were almost always assigned the role of the victim. Now there is a storyline with a set of episodes, and thanks to the abundance of weapons, the main goal is no longer to save one’s skin, but to exterminate zombies. Although it’s still not worth wasting ammo thoughtlessly.

As mentioned above, at this time of year everyone who is not too lazy holds themed promotions. Into the Dead 2 didn’t stand aside either. However, her event is largely dedicated not to Pumpkin Day, but to the fiftieth anniversary of George Romero’s legendary zombie horror film “Night of the Living Dead”. The small campaign is a prequel in which we will play as Ben, the main character of the original film. The gameplay, of course, has not changed – we run forward, dodge and shoot, except that there was no help from our partners before, it seems. The story ends right before Ben and Barbara meet. Overall this event is probably the best I’ve seen in mobile games. It’s catchy and a nod to the famous director, as well as a couple of good plot twists that you wouldn’t expect from a simple runner.

The game is free and advertising in it, as a rule, does not bother you. However, without donation, at some point it becomes very problematic to develop further. On the other hand, this very advancement further along the main storyline is not really necessary, because the gameplay does not change much. When you reach the paywall, it is quite comfortable to replay previous levels, play daily missions and events.

There was not a single typical horror adventure game on this list, because that would have been banal. It doesn’t include many good games that are full of Halloween atmosphere, simply because there are too many of them. So post your favorites in the comments and we’ll discuss them. And that’s all, have bad dreams and don’t forget to feed the monster under the bed.

And don’t tell. If you are writing about one thing, you can also scatter different pictures throughout the texts. And if here is a selection, like here, then without a gallery it’s completely ahtung.

Oooh I love this Halloween atmosphere. Since I don’t usually celebrate it, so to speak, live, at least get into it in games! Maybe I’ll replay Limbo on my smartphone. Before this I played for a long time on the computer. Thanks for the selection.

Me too, and in themed games/events in games) This year I had the idea to watch all the Halloween films, but I only had the strength for 3, including the new one.
